The Arizona Online Instruction (AOI) Program established in A.R.S. §15-808 allows approved school districts and charter schools to develop online instructional systems to expand learning opportunities for students throughout our state. The State Board of Education approves district AOI programs.
Approved District AOIs
Charter schools should contact the State Board for Charter Schools at: https://asbcs.az.gov/
The Board is accepting AOI applications on a case by case basis if the district provides a rationale for why it missed the traditional application window and provides evidence that there is demand in the district for an AOI in the upcoming school year. Districts interested in applying should contact [email protected].
UPDATE: HB 2862 was signed by the Governor on April 28, 2021. The bill provides flexibility to schools in meeting statutory instructional time requirements, including a pathway for schools to provide remote instruction without an approved AOI. The Arizona Department of Education is working on guidance for schools and issued an initial communication provided below.
