2020-2021 School Year Reports
COVID-19 Academic Impact Report
Executive Order 2021-03 requires the Board to issue a report regarding the 2020-2021 school year to draw comparisons to prior years and to identify the impact of COVID-19 on student learning. Due to the varied and diverse COVID-19 impacts, data from the 2020-2021 school year is not as complete or reliable as prior years and caused a disproportionate impact on Arizona's students in poverty and English learners. As a result, the Board advises caution when making comparisons or inferences without considering other contextual factors.
Notwithstanding the issues with the data, insights can be gained at the state level which can be found in the report.

HB 2402 Reporting
HB 2402, passed in 2021, recognized the limitations with the data that COVID-19 presented and placed a one-year pause in issuing A-F letter grades for the 2020-2021 school year. In lieu of issuing A-F letter grades, HB 2402 required the Board to identify schools with a below average level of performance and to direct ADE to release academic data. Below is a link to the schools identified. Please take the same caution regarding the data as mentioned above.
